Philosophy 101
Bradley: We will reject an idea until it is worse to reject it than to accept it.. Therefore I will reject that i need to study until i think that not studying makes me worse off- which is true. Therefore I need to study.
John Locke: Our mind can combine simple ideas into complex ones and vice versa since philosophers love to use flowery words and make everything so complicated, i just wanna break them apart into small pieces. literally. Therefore I AM THE MIND!!!
Russel: For a truth to exist, there must also be falsehood. Because the sentence "the smell of smoke is fucking awesome" is false, therefore to say that I hate smokers is a truth.
James: For truth to be established, it must have been verified or have verifi-ability. He is an asshole because my friends have agreed with me, therefore it has been verified. That he is an asshole no longer is an idea but a truth.
"The absolutely true, meaning what no farther exp will ever alter, is that ideal vanishing point towards which we imagine that all our temporary truths will one day converge" William James
- that means once we verify that smth is true (e.g that short man has a small peni. we will assume that short men have small penises once we meet a few more short men with short penises.)
-So I pose a question. If truth is what is at the end of the vanishing point in the horizon, that vanishing point can never be reached cus u keep walking, there will forever be a fucking vanishing point. So, are there no absolute truths? Cus the path and the vanishing point in the horizon will keep changing as we walk along that path.
cus im amazing like that.
